Communication is not just what you say, it’s an expression of who you are.

When working with my students on their English communication skills I think of it as an inside-out job.

Yes, we work on the sound and rhythm of English to help you BE UNDERSTOOD clearly the first time you speak. This is the external work that others HEAR when they speak with you.

But we also work on CONFIDENCE. This is the internal work that others FEEL when they speak with you.

Confidence comes from the way you think about yourself, others, and the world around you.

Do you see yourself as innately valuable and capable of providing value to others? Or do you see yourself as not enough?

Do you see others as your equal? Or are they superior or inferior to you?

Is the world full of opportunity and joy? Or scarcity and fear.

These mindsets will all be communicated to others whether you verbally express it or not.

As you develop your spoken English, don’t forget to also develop who you are.

Feed your mind thoughts and ideas that will help you become the person you want to BE.

So then when you go to speak, you’ll like what you have to communicate.
