You can’t control whether or not someone else shows you respect but when you have respect for yourself and for them, it is more likely that they will follow your example.
Self-Respect: a feeling that you are behaving with honor and dignity.
Respect: regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others.
I believe the best way to respect yourself and show respect to others is to see yourself as equal to others and others as equal to you.
No one is above you. No one is below you. You are equals.
When you love yourself and see yourself as worthy and valuable and you treat others the same, then respect is created.
And with that respect you can feel confident in your communication.
