“Version one is better than version none”

This is a saying that was shared with me while I was creating Pronunciation Pro over 10 years ago.

Back then, I was a perfectionist.

I didn’t want to make mistakes, I wanted to get it right the first time and avoid the discomfort of making mistakes and experiencing criticism.

Then I went to a training that was teaching me how to create an online program.

They shared this saying, ‘Version one is better than version none’.

They explained that it’s more effective to get your program out into the world, get feedback on it, and revise it along the way then it is to keep trying to get it perfect before launching.

When you get stuck in perfectionism you usually end up not finishing because you never get it exactly the way you want it.

You fail in advance by trying not to fail.

This message was a complete mindset shift for me.

It helped me replace the thought – ‘I need to get this perfect’ to ‘I will get this good enough and then work on refining it as I get feedback’.

Do you do the same thing with your English pronunciation?

Are you waiting to speak up until your English is perfect to avoid the discomfort of making mistakes and experiencing criticism?

If so, I encourage you to adopt this new mindset.

“Version one is better than version one”

Get your voice out in the world now and then refine it along the way.

You’ll look back 10 years from now and be so glad you did.
